Simon Hinkley
Carbohydrate Chemistry group's Dr Simon Hinkley has interests in high bioactivity natural products, carbohydrate polymer science, analytical chemistry and chemical manufacturing scale-up.
Simon Hinkley
Dr Hinkley is currently lead chemist on an IRL/Resene collaborative project to develop waterborne paints based on resins made from sustainable raw materials. He is also involved in a programme researching sulfated oligosaccharides, mainly heparan sulfates, which play an important role in biological systems.
Dr Hinkley completed his studies at the University of Otago with post-doctoral work at the University of Maryland at College Park in the United States.
Before joining the Carbohydrate Chemistry group he spent seven years in a cGMP manufacturing facility producing high-potency pharmaceuticals.
