Win for wonder wound-care
IRL partner Mesynthes has been named supreme winner of the prestigious Wellington Gold Awards 2011.
The Lower Hutt-based regenerative medicine company also took out the Discovering Gold award for best R&D project for Endoform, a naturally derived regenerative tissue substitute for people with burns, severe skin injuries and chronic wounds.
Mesynthes CEO Brian Ward, a former veterinarian, started the company three years ago, and has collaborated with scientists from IRL, Massey University and Otago University in the development of products including Endoform.
“Our partnership with IRL has been very important in accelerating the commercialisation of Endoform,” Ward says. “We have benefited from their willingness to be creative and work with us to solve a number of challenges.”
